Hybrid stepping motor(HSM) is popular in industrial automatic field because of its advantages of low cost, high cost performance, smooth function, easy to control and so on. There is much space for its development.However, the structure of HSM is special, for the magnetic field inside the motor is highly complex. HSM is a kind of fine-tooth structure reluctance motor, torque production is based on the tooth-slot effect between the stator and rotor, therefore the air gap cannot be processed by the air gap coefficient as other traditional motors. The air gap of HSM usually is very small, it makes the design and calculation difficult.The design of hybrid stepping motor in projects usually use method of analogy and method of air gap rate permeance to approximate evaluate static torque of motors. However, because of the innate defaces of these two methods, the calculated torque usually has great errors. Tooth-layer rate permeance method, which is calculated by Finite Element Method (FEM), then regards motor as lumped magnetic circuit network to calculate. It has good accuracy and practicality.In this paper, according to design feature of HSM, the magnetic parameters of field of the tooth-layer is calculated by FEM, and tooth-layer magnetic parameters database is established, and then based on the tooth-layer rate permeance method quieting characteristic design platform of HSM is designed.Combining with quieting characteristic design platform of HSM, the effect of torque by performance parameters of permanent-magnet and by the length of stator and magnetic isolation device are analyzed.Test is built to test and verify the accuracy of quieting characteristic calculation software of HSM. It tested detent torque and holding torque of different motors. It validates the accuracy of tooth-layer rate permeance method and design platform and proves the good flexibility and practicability of the design platform through the contrast of simulated and measured value of torque in rated current.
