The loss of line is a major indicator of economic assess to electric power system. It not only can reflect the rational nature of network structure and operation mode, but also can reflect the level of the technical management in power companies. At present, various technical measures and management measures have been put in place. The loss rate of line maintain a basic level of horizontal vibration state, in order to further breakthroughs on the line loss rate is very difficult, We need to find a new breakthrough. From experiences of all over the distribution management, shorten the supply radius is the most effective manner of factors in transformation of substation equipment, a change of operation mode, and so on. The results are most obviously. Reduce the supply radius can improve reliability and reduce the failure rate effectively. It can increase economic efficiency substantial, Ir also can reduce the investment cost, shorten the investment cycle. How to shorten the supply radius? This needs to increase the new supply point, and then take the new path of power distribution lines. In previous work, most units of the approach is to judge by artificial experience, The planning is inefficient and arbitrary without a quantitative, scientific, operational tools and methods. In view of this situation, We use geographic information system as approach, We can find the shortest path in the planning stage by the computer, Optimization location, evaluate the loss of line in theory, So we can reduce the loss of line in the planning stage, To lay the basis for energy loss reduction from the beginning. This paper explains how to plan distribution network structure in scientific quantity using geographic information systems in the planning and transformation of distribution network, so we can solve the problem of the loss of line.
