The cutter head is the key component of shield machine. As the domestic shield requirement become larger and larger. It is of great meaning to master the technologies of independent design and manufacture capability of the shield machine. Through the analysis of force acting on the cutter head, this article makes a research on light weight design of stand bar and cutter head, which meeting the strength requirement and saving materials and cost.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The force acting on the cutter head is analyzed first. Through the comparison between different work conditions of shied machine, the scurvy condition is found finally. And the succeed design of the cutter head are based on this force.2. The research of light weight design of stand bar is made. The light weight design mathematical model of stand bar is established on the force analysis. An optimum design mathematical model is solved with the help of MATLAB. The results before and after light weight design are compared through finite element analysis. At the end, we gain the prioritization scheme of the light weight design of the stand bar.3. The effect of the choice of cutter head type and cutting-tool, cutting-tool's collocation on the cutter head and the hatch percent on the light weight design is addressed.4. The research of light weight design of cutter head is made. Based on the analysis of the force acting on the cutter head, the light weight design mathematical model of each parts of the cutter head is established. An example of board wheel is calculated. The results before and after light weight design are compared through finite element analysis. At the end, we gain the prioritization scheme of the light weight design of the cutter head.
