With the abroad application of micro-computer based on relay protection equipments in power system, as an important evaluate tool of these equipments, the testing technology of relay protection has been developed rapidly. Traditional Analog testing technology can not meet field use, research and development of microcomputer relay protection testers based on advanced technology including computer technology and microelectronics technology has become an inevitable trend of development of these relay protection testers.A new generation of microcomputer relay protection test based on double master computer and serial communication is developed on the reference of many documents domestic and overseas combining with the development trend of relay protection testing technology in our country. By using embedded system as the platform of user interaction and digital signal processing, this kind of testers make great improvements on computing speed and output precision compared to traditional structure of microcomputer with single-chip. This testing device has wide prospects of application for it has much merit such as cabinet cubage, optimized performance, friendly user interaction, perfect testing function, easy for maintenance and upgrade.Firstly, the technology of relay protection is briefly introduced in this paper. On the basis of research on the development and current status domestic and abroad, a design plan of microcomputer relay protection tester based on double computer and serial communication is put forward. Secondly, the hardware structure of this system is introduced, including detailed analysis and design, and then, the software structure of this system is introduced, including research on realization of key techniques for programming by using MFC. An idea of modular structure which used for C language multi-document program in the lower system is put forward. Thirdly, the algorithm of digital wave calculation and switch collection are introduced by listing program code. Also, the protocol of serial communication is drafted and realized by programming, and then, the logic function of CPLD device is realized by programming and verified by using MAX plusâ…¡. Finally, the disadvantages of existent schemes and proposals to improve the criteria are pointed out.
