Earth Observation Satellite System is the main source of obtaining spacial information and is playing more and more important role in the military activities and economic development.As the level of the economy and technology is developing fastly, the number of the satellites is increasely greatly and the function of the satellite is becoming strong than before. Therefore, in the conceptual design stage of the satellite,it is wise to design the configuration of the orbit and sensor.So it can maximize the efficiecy of the EOSS.There is no analytical expression between the imaging capability and satellite system's structure, this problem must be solved by simulation.Simulation optimization supplies good ideas to tackle this problem,experiment design is an essential module of simulation optimization.On the one hand, it supplies good presentive points in the design space and decreases the times of the simulation experments.On the other hand,good experimental design can improve the accuracy of the approximate model between the design space and observation results.The design space of EOSS has too many design variables, the span of the variable is very large and the relationship between the design space and observation efficiency is unclear.So,experimental design is quite adaptable to this problem.The demand of top design of EOSS primarily contains strategic regional target, emergent mission and land survey etc., the above observation demand needs to be converted into quantitative performance index.Then summary the design factor index,the orbit factor and crucial sensor factor index.The orbit perturbation factors is also taken into acctount.Based on the above hypothesis, we construct the framework of experimental design to the top design of EOSS.At different stage of experiment design,different methods is applied to satisfy the designer of the top design.At the beginning, orthogonal design are adopted and do sensitivity analysis, so that we can get the crucial parameters and satellite of EOSS; At midterm, Uniform design and Latin Hypercube Design are adopted, which need less times than orthogonal design, so that we can get more representative scheme; At the end, robust design is adopted, which aims to reduce the infection of orbit perturbation.
