Carbon capture technology is the fundamental means of CO2 emission reduction. As the main power structure, the carbon capture technology is introduced into the traditional power plant, making it a carbon capture power plant, enabling a large-scale, high-effciency carbon emission reduction. As technical and economic resons, carbon capture systems can not be installed in all power plants, so it is necessary to choose the installation site for carbon capture systems in the early time of carbon capture power plant construction. The paper focus on the issue of the optimal allocation of carbon capture systems from two aspects, one is the operating characteristics of carbon capture power plant; the other is the comprehensive cost of carbon capture power plant. The main contents of this paper are as follows:First of all, the paper introduce some typical carbon capture technologies, including the basic principles and technical line, at the same time, compare the merits and demerits of the carbon capture technology and the plant types, also discussed some hot issues of capturing CO2 in power plants. Then, the quantitative analysis of carbon capture technology influence on power consumption and generating cost from the carbon capture technology point. Carbon capture systems for capturing CO2 requires large amount of energy, leading to the reduction of original power plant net output power and the generation efficiency, also the additional generation costs. In this paper, these factors will be quantified by mathematical formula into the model, the optimum allocation model for the carbon capture system is developed with the objective of maximizing the total emission and an algorithm based on the modified discrete particle swarm algorithm is proposed, as well as its detail process. Finally, further researches on cost characteristics of carbon capture power plant are carried through. According to the cost factors, high amount of investment, and difficult to quantify, this paper presents a model based on the modified discrete particle swarm algorithm for optimal allocation of carbon capture systems in power plants. The model considers the investment, maintenance costs and energy consumption costs; it is formulated as a minimum comprehensive annual cost combinatorial constrained optimization based on year-equivalence method. The choice problems of carbon capture system type and site are realized.
