As the rapid development of transportation industry in our country, bituminous pavement has been used extensively, but the accompanying diseases become more and more serious, among which, rutting is the most typical and widespread one. At present, most of the domestic highways use the semi-rigid type base, the base and the subbase is not liable to warp, so the rutting mainly occurs in asphalt surface. A lot of research has been done on rutting by scholars at home and abroad. Using modified asphalt or anti-rut agent is the usual method to increase the high temperature stability of asphalt pavement. Previous studies are generally on one of these methods and rarely on multiple factors, nor does they contrast the using effects and the economical efficiency of different technical measures of anti-rutting.Based on the existing research results, three factors including asphalt, anti-rut agent and gradation are choosed among many factors which have influence on the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture to be analyzed and studied. Factorial designs are used to analyze the effect on the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture of different factors through monolayer rutting test. Bistratal rutting test is done to simulate actual pavement. The influence on the anti-rutting performance of bistratal rutting slab by the top layer and the lower layer is analyzed. Both the economical efficiency and the effect of anti-ruting are considered to recommend on how to select the kind of asphlt mixtures reasonably. Among the large number of data from the rutting test, it is found that the method based on dynamic stability to evaluate the anti-rutting performance of bituminous mixture is not ideal under some circumstances, so a new method is put forward. In order to inspect the results of laboratory test, a testing road is designed and paved. The pavement performance of the testing road is detected and the primal results are anastomotic with the conclusion of laboratory test.
