Cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of human disability and premature death; hypertension is an independent risk factor of cardiovascular disease. Home blood pressure monitoring using electronic blood pressure monitor is an important way to prevent serious cardiovascular events. Wrist blood pressure monitor which has the following advantages: low price and easy to use, is ideal equipment for blood pressure self-monitoring. Institute of Intelligence Machines, Chinese Academy of Sciences is developing low-cost health promotion system based on the management of way of life for chronic disease prevention and control, blood pressure measurement module is an important part of the system. By research of the existing electronic blood pressure monitor, we found it is necessary to develop a new wrist blood pressure monitor, because: (1) precision problem: existing electronic blood pressure monitor determined blood pressure only by a simple method, accurate and repeatability of blood pressure monitor need to be improved; (2) interface problem: the low-cost health promotion system based on the management of way of life require the blood pressure measurement module connected to the system by private interface.In order to develop a wrist blood pressure monitor which has high-precision, and can be used for home blood pressure monitoring and chronic disease prevention and control, this thesis proposed a method for determining blood pressure based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting, and developed a wrist blood pressure monitor based on this method, and verified the accuracy and repeatability of the wrist electronic blood pressure monitor. The major works are as follows:(1) proposed a method for determining blood pressure based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting.By studied and summarized previous studies about method for determining blood pressure, this thesis proposed a new method for determining blood pressure based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting: firstly, determine the single-wave's peak points of sasser, determine the best fitting curve, fit the contour line of sasser; secondly, find maximum of the contour line, select integration interval; finally, determine the location of DBP and SBP by the proposed integral formula and the location of the maximum, and then determine DBP and SBP.(2) designed the wrist blood pressure monitor based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting.This thesis designed a new wrist blood pressure monitor based on the new method for determining blood pressure.The hardware of the wrist blood pressure monitor consisted of PC and data collection part; the data collection part included blood pressure cuff and blood pressure collection box; the collection box included splitter, air conditioning, air pump, solenoid valves, pressure sensors, control chip, driving circuit, signal conditioning circuits, DC power supply, etc.; DC power supply consisted of the transformer and the DC circuit.The software features of the wrist blood pressure monitor included: user basic information management; measurement control; display of blood pressure-related signal; storage and reproduction of blood pressure-related data; users'measure files management; correction of blood pressure-related data; analysis of changes of blood pressure-related index; analysis of vascular conditions according to blood pressure and the changes of blood pressure-related index, and then give recommendations; provide analysis reports which can be printed.(3) verified the wrist electronic blood pressure monitor based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting.To use the wrist electronic blood pressure monitor based on oscillometric method and Gaussian fitting in home blood pressure monitoring and chronic disease prevention and control, this thesis verified the wrist blood pressure monitor, primarily validated the accuracy and repeatability of the wrist electronic blood pressure monitor.
