This paper prepared modified asphalt by a certain percentage of SBS, PE and rubberwith the AH-90 asphalt. The influence of asphalt and aggregate properties on cohesion andadhesion of modified asphalt were studied, and provided a theoretical basis for selection ofasphalts and stones in the actual project. Based on immersion Marshall test, the Surfaceenergy theory and the force ductility test were used to evaluate the adhesion and cohesion ofmodified asphalt, and proposed new evaluation methods and evaluation indicators ofmodified bitumen cohesion.Based on adhesion and cohesion evaluation methods of modified asphalt, Studies havefound that 10℃and 15℃ductility, viscosity of asphalt, base value and the surface potentialof stone would affect the adhesion and cohesion of modified asphalt to some different extent.Through research on cohesion and adhesion of modified asphalt prepared by differentmodifiers, the study found that the addition of one modifier can increase the surface freeenergy of asphalt to improve the adhesion of asphalt and stone on the one hand; on the otherhand, it can also increase the cohesion force of asphalt to improve its cohesion. The cohesionforce of the asphalt obtained from Force ductility test can be used to evaluate the cohesion ofmodified asphalt. Based on the cohesion force of asphalt, the tensile stiffness, equivalentstiffness of asphalt, equivalent stiffness of modified asphalt and yield strain energy in 5℃and3cm/min tensile speed, the tensile stiffness and equivalent stiffness of modified asphalt in 5℃and 4cm/min tensile speed, equivalent stiffness of modified asphalt and yield strain energy in10℃and 5cm/min tensile speed could be used as new cohesion evaluation indicators ofmodified asphalt. However, compared with the evaluation indicator of cohesion work, thereare some differences between the two evaluation methods. Theory of adhesion model andwater damage model based on surface free energy provided more scientific means for selection of asphalt-stone match and prediction of water damage with important theoreticaland engineering application value.
