The spatial reticulated shells with reasonable force,affordable materials and attractive appearance,can cover a large space,and they are space structures with wide perspective.However,if the spatial reticulated shells are applied with prestressed cables,the new prestressed reticulated shells will have much better mechanical propeties and higher bearing capacity than original structures,so they can control the deformation of themselves,reduce the project cost,and across a larger space.Therefore,the prestressed reticulated shell is a new type of space structure system in recent years,and it is developing rapidly.At the same time,with the span of reticulated shell increasing,the stability problems of reticulated shells are more important.In this paper,the gymnasium in Qingdao campus of China University of Petroleum(East China) is analysised,based on the theory of nonlinear finite element analysis.So the finite element software ANSYS is used in this paper.There are two analysis models with one is a hyperbolic paraboloid shell,and the other is a prestressed reticulated shell,which is actually the previous model applied with cables.The static characteristics,the static stability,and the vibration characteristics of the two models will be analyzed in this paper,and the results of two models are comparated to analysis the cables'function of strengthening the original structure,which can provide some valuable reference for the similar projects in future.In the last place of this paper,the ANSYS results are compared with the actual monitoring results of the gymnasium to prove that the method used in this paper is reasonable and correct.This paper describes the development and research conditions of reticulated shells at first.And then,it summarizes the research conditions of the stability and the analysis methods of reticulated shells.After that,it elaborates the nonlinear finite element method,the instability mechanism of shells,and the entire analysis process of shell's stability. Considering the prevalence of initial defects,then this paper analyzes the static characteristics and the static stability performance of two models in two ways,with one sonsidering initial defects,and the other not.At last,this paper analyzes the vibration characteristic of two models to study the dynamic characteristic initially and the influence of dynamic characteristic on the original shell not prestressed,which can pave the way to research the dynamic stability of two models in future.
