The rapid development of highway tunnel makes the application of tunnel lighting control system more and more. The current tunnel lighting control system have disadvantage of excess or inadequate lighting, dimming un-continuously and other problems. These result in many problems such as high cost of the tunnel lighting, low factor of safety issues. To address these problems in current tunnel lighting control system, researches are conducted in this paper.It firstly studys the control theory and control strategy of the high-power LED tunnel lighting intelligent control system in the paper. Taking advantage of the new light source LED dimming control easy, the system realize dimming LED lighting using the advantages of PWM shunt on the control. Since the average current through the LED lights and PWM duty cycle signal are a similar inverse relationship. With the Inverse relationship as foundation, this paper obtained the duty cycle control dimming functions of each section in the tunnel, and these functions are named as control principle of this system. Basing on system control theory, a rule-based reasoning expert control system which include judge rules taking full account of the various factors that affect the tunnel lighting that are easy to implement., is researched and designed for the High-power LED tunnel lighting intelligent control system in the paper. The High-power LED tunnel lighting intelligent control system use RS485 as the communication bus which is a distributed organizations, playing a decision-making centralized, decentralized control advantages.Basing on the control theory and control strategy, a PC software is designed for the high-power LED tunnel lighting intelligent control system and using Visual Basic programming language complete the designation of the structure and function modules of the software.It described the designation and implementation process of the software in detail. The software has functions such as data acquisition, data backup, data analysis and lighting control. The software have Friendly software interface and can be easyly to operate.It has been researched and designed the terminal in high-power LED tunnel lighting. PIC16F873A microcontroller is the core component in the Terminal, communications link between the host computer and terminal is using RS485.It described the way of communication link, communication method and designation on hardware and software of terminal communication interface in detail. Finally, lighting control experiments are executed with the high-power LED tunnel lighting intelligent control system. Results verify that high-power LED tunnel lighting control system not only meets the demand of dimming smoothly but also control with a certain precision, which has good practical significance.
