With its prominent advantages of simple structure, high reliability, controllable excitation, easy regulation of the output voltage and de-excitation under fault, the Doubly Salient Electro-magnet motor (DSEM) has the potential to be the starter/generator. It is a new choice for the integrated starter/generator and is suitable for applications in aviation and wind power generation. Therefore, the research on the DSEM Starter/Generator system (SGS) is of great significance.Firstly, the structure of the SGS of double starter DSEM is given. The principle of the bidirectional power converter is presented. The mathematic mode of the DSEM is given. The working principle of Starter is detailed analysesed. The paper deeply analysis the mathematics mechanism of the two control strategy (SACM and AACM) consider of the dead time.Secondly, in this paper, the finite element simulation mode of DSEM is established, the simulation has been including the air-gap flux density, magnetic chains, electric potential, self-inductance, mutual inductance and output voltage and other electrical parameters. the integral model of SGS is established and the characteristics of the whole starter/generator process are given, especially the transient process from starter to generator.In this paper describes a digital control system for starting the hardware design and software design process, Then, describes the mechanism and voltage regulator system structure diagram. On the SGS, a lot of experiments have been done, including the starter, generation, starter/generation switch experiment. And successfully realized the aero-engine hot and cold driving test.Improve the control system hardware circuit. Integrated controllers are divided into the starting controller and the DC power controller. Starting controller start the aircraft engines on the ground, while the DC power controller used as aieborne equipment. So reduces the aircraft's loading capacity, increasing the safety of the aircraft, also reduces degree of couping system, increasing the reliability of the SGS.
