In recent years, there's been a rapid increase in China's civil aviation. Busy airports and terminal areas often suffer from serious air traffic congestion, which has disturbed the regular operation of airlines and caused lots of delays of airliners and thus enormous economic losses as well as the safety of aviation in terminal areas being at risk. Arrival flow management is of pivotal importance to the terminal traffic management and arrival aircraft sequencing and scheduling has become a hot topic for research.The paper focuses on the dynamic sequencing problem of aircrafts in terminal area. Firstly, the concept of air traffic flow management and the traffic operation in the terminal areas are introduced, and some existing sequencing methods summarized and compared. Then a dynamic model considering time advance delay cost is proposed on the bases of two models: minimal delay time and minimal delay cost. In order to seek excellent aircraft queue, an integer representation based genetic algorithm is adopted. Finally we choose the optimized initial population genetic algorithm based on the RHC strategy after a comparison of some improved GA. Simulation results show that the new method proposed in this paper is effective and efficient in solving the ASS problem in a dynamic environment. In the end, the paper designs arrival sequencing system of Guangzhou approach, and gives the flow of operation and the output interface. Furthermore, the significance of this paper lies in a summary of its main findings and prospects for further research in arrival flow management.
