The light gauge steel structure is widely used in low-rise residentialbuilding, but the promotion of it in our country is just beginning, researches on it are insufficient, and correlative code or specification areabsent. In this paper, the compression and shear properties of low rise lightgauge steel residential is studied by finite element on numerical simulationanalysis, and the function of compound wall in the integral behavior oflow-rise light gauge steel structure is studied. At first, the axial compression of the compound wall is simulated bycomparing on the failure modes and carrying capacity of the experiment, tovalidate the correctness of the finite element model, and analysis andcompare the difference of capacity between different sections under thewall with wall panels and the wall with no panels, to amend the columnlength factor of the within-wall board in criterion according to the analysisresults. Secondly, the shear performance of the compound wall is simulated, to get the model approaching the experiment value by choosingthe suitable spring curve, preliminary analysis the effect of the wallthickness, bolt spacing, bolt spring stiffness, keel size and space on thecompound wall of lateral resistance, modeling the simplified finite elementmodel based on the formula of lateral resistance of the composite wall, applied the new idea for the integral modeling. Thirdly, analysis thecompound wall of the low-rise residential building on the dynamicanalysis of hysteretic behavior, based on the results obtained for low-riseresidential complex metal frame cross section of the wall thickness ratiosand wall dimensions, meanwhile the two-floor residential low-rise lightsteel keel frame and wall frames are studied by two-dimensional seismictime history analysis, explore seismic performance of the metal frame ofwall. At last, with the two-story full-scale vibration models, based onanalysis and comparison of H + H low light and low-rise steel structure ofthin metal frame residential wind and earthquake resistance of the wholeof the lower building, make a useful exploration for the skin effect of metalframe.
