Study On Engineering Character Of Calcareous Soil

Calcium carbonate rock or soil, usually refers to special soil medium that marine life (corals, algae, shells, etc.) causes, rich in calcium carbonate or other insoluble substances. Because mostly of it without long-distance transport in the process of deposition, retains the small pores of original skeleton of the biological and other reasons, the formation of porous soil particles (containing the inner pore), irregular in shape, easily broken, cement and other particles easily make their mechanical nature obvious differences to general terrestrial and marine sediments .As a special rock and soil, calcareous soil shows particularly uneven. Due to the current few investigation, yet not included in the national norms, their mechanical characteristics and properties of the foundation remains to be further discussed. Broadly speaking, calcareous soil includes coral reefs, calcareous sand, calcareous soil, coral debris and coral fragments mixed with soil silt soil. But overall, qualitative analysis more than quantitative calculation soil in previous results. This paper based on theoretical analysis, relied on a power plant project in Saudi Arabia, calcium geotechnical (mainly coral reefs) engineering traits of a comprehensive and in-depth study. This paper mainly studies are as follows:(1) The research status on calcareous rock and calcareous soil in the foundations were analyzed comprehensively;(2) Describes the basic physical mechanics properties, engineering properties of calcareous soil;(3) Example of a power plant project of Saudi Arabia, by conventional survey, soil layer classification and static load test described calcareous soil (mainly coral reefs) of the engineering properties, especially in-homogeneity of the coral reefs foundation and the bearing capacity problem. Also optimized foundation program of coral reefs;(4) Coral calcium on the common problems (in-homogeneity, precipitation, etc) of land-based analysis of a brief;(5) By studies experimental and the theory of pile-soil interaction research Senior's, further analysis the skin resistance, tip resistance unique characteristics of calcareous soil (mainly calcareous soil),, and analysis its factor;(6) Summary of conclusions this article obtained and looking forward to the calcareous soil and calcareous soil in the foundations of development.
