For a long time, line heating has been the most important technique in double- curve hull plate forming. Thus, to make this technique automatic is the primary work in the research of ship building techniques. By analysis of reaearches both in home and abroad, it was considered that the key problem of study on line heating was how to describe the tempreture field of line heating with proper parametres, how to contral these parametres, and finally how to decide the heating lines. By doing research on the relations between the parametres of tempreture field and both of the process parametres and the parametres of deformation field, we would know better how to decide the proper process parametres to get the deformation field we want.By consider all these above, this paper established the FEM model for the calculation of tempreture field of line heating, based on AYSYS. And with a designed numerical experiment, the criticle tempreture for deformation of line heating was found, and so did the parametres of tempreture field of line heating. In the end of this paper, the unique technique for thick plate was discussed. The method of confirming the heating line based on gauss curvature was also discussed in this paper.
