Shipboard power system is an independent off-grid power system and an indispensable core system in modern ships. With the development of maritime industry, the demand for the modeling and simulation on shipboard power system is growing rapidly.Unlike the infinite grid, shipboard power system is powered by the synchronous generator dragged by prime mover, and generated energy is comparative to the load capacity. So the system has a wide range of dynamic changes and frequent dynamic process. So, it is of great importance to establish accurate simulation model to describe the synchronous generator especially when analyzing its dynamic process.This paper focuses on the modeling and simulation of synchronous generator in Shipboard power system. Based on the demand of model comparison, selection and simulation, the derivation process of synchronous generator's basic and practical models were presented in detail, including assumed conditions, the method and thinking of derivation, the selection of per-unit system, simplified conditions for different order of practical model, and conversion and calculation for simulation model parameter.The third chapter mainly focuses on the mathematical model of prime mover and speed control system, synchronous generator and excitation control system, typical loads and protection equipment in shipboard power system. Methods and thinking of the simulation modeling was also introduced and the corresponding simulation model was built. In order to compare different order mathematical models of synchronous generator, three kinds of different simulation models of synchronous motors was built and the simulation results are analyzed. According to the results and actual situation of shipboard power system, a suitable mathematical model was selected for the further modeling and simulation.In order to verify the selected mathematical model, system model of typical running situation of shipboard power system with various kinds of loads in the fourth chapter was modeled and simulated, and the results were presented and analyzed.
