In recent years, power electronic equipments have been used increasingly. Consequently, harmonic pollution problem has been more serious. To improve the power supply's quality is one of the most effective ways to sopite this problem. Good excitation control systems not only play an important role in the stability of power system but also can improve the performance of generators and power system. It is an important way to ameliorate the performance of synchronous generator that improving on the excitation system of synchronous generators. The traditional AC-DC Full-Bridge converter useing MOSFETs is phase control rectifier. It has a low power factor and product much harmonic. Harmonic current, besides worsen the quality of power supply it also incress the additional wastage and additional temperature change.Techological advances in power elctronic devices in recent years have motivated rich study on the PWM(pulsewidth modulation) AC/DC converters. As compared to traditional phase controlled rectifiers, PWM converter has the attractive features such as controllable power factor, nearly sinusoidal input current, simplicity in control circuit and bidirectional power flow ability. To simultaneously achieve these performances, one must pay attention on the design of controller. In this paper, the excitation system use the PWM high power factor rectifier instead of the traditional rectifier, the topological graph and control strategy based on this design is also expatiated. Detailed analysis of the mathematics model in different coordinates is also presented. Operating principles and simulation results show the high power factor and low harmonic converter, and as a result the effect for the synchronous generate.
