The increasing maturity of wind power generation technology is the basis of developing wind power generation. The wind power generator and its control system are the core of wind power generation system(WPGS). The WPGS, with high reliability, low cost and good control performances is the inevitable requirement of the development of wind power generation technology.The application in the WPGS of doubly salient electro-magnetic generator (DSEG), with advantages of high reliability, low cost and flexible control, has special advantage, which meets the trend of the wind power generation technology. The good control performances of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for wind power generator system is the key of improving the wind energy utilization of wind turbine. So the study of MPPT control method suitable for doubly salient electro-magnetic wind power generator system has great significance to its efficient application.In this paper, the operation principles of the wind turbine and DSEG are introduced firstly, the tip speed ratio(TSR) control method, the power signal feedback(PSF) control method and the perturb and observe(P&O) control method are analyzed theoretically, the two key problems of the perturb and observe control method are studied and the concept of the power signal feedback control method is extended broadly. A novel MPPT control method, connecting the perturb and observe control method and the power signal feedback control method with the ratio of power and cube of speed as the tie, is proposed. Then, the simulation model is built with MATLAB based on the operation principles of the doubly salient electro-magnetic wind power generator system. These methods mentioned above are studied by simulation and the efficiency of them are proved.Finally, the MPPT control system of doubly salient electro-magnetic wind power generator is built based on the wind turbine simulator system which already exists in our lab. They form the wind power simulation experimental platform. The power signal feedback control method, the perturb and observe control method and the novel MPPT control method proposed above are studied based on this platform. The experimental results show that the above MPPT control methods used in doubly salient electro-magnetic wind power generator system is effective.
