Vocational and technical education has arisen since World War 2, while its expanding development was in the sixties and seventies of the 20th century. Had been propelled by the application of nuclear and computer technology, many western counties have confirmed higher vocational education as an important means of promoting economic development. In China, higher vocational education has started since 1980s, especially from the time of the policy of reform and opening up, demand for technology talents has been increasing rapidly. In order to meet the need of various industries development, higher education teaching has made a great change; it aims to strengthen students'practical abilities by having practical training courses, and helps the youths who graduated from higher vocational colleges to adapt themselves to future work. Practical training courses often been taught in some special training places, where you feel like the real work environment. Therefore, designing the training building in proper way is very important for training education.Above all, this paper sets training building in higher vocational and technical colleges as the research object, and tries to achieve the goal of improving the quality of teaching, as well as promoting social and economic development. By use of several research methods, for the sake of building design principles, this paper takes an integrated analysis with space-related elements, attempts to give some suggestion about how to design training buildings in higher vocational colleges. It's been divided into mainly three parts, as follows:First of all, there's a review of history of vocational and technical colleges, several related theories of domestic and foreign research results are also showed. Meanwhile, this paper gives a brief definition of the research object, and analyzes the national conditions, which containing vocational training buildings by combining with the characters in different industries, simulation requirements, technology and special policies. According to above conclusion, it attempts to classify the existing training building.Secondly, starting from the present situation investigation results, connected with the space design principle's influence on space scale of practical training buildings, this paper concludes two common models from the analyzing results. Then classified the training buildings with the comprehensive practice teaching practice and training space space model. After that, the topic about how to design practical training unit comes up to discuss, under the consideration of combination plane control elements, combination plane patterns, space index, choices of column grid, image design, humanity design and sustainable development.At last, from the planning point of view, it mentions that some layout elements should be paid attention in construction of training buildings in higher vocational colleges; they are location, layout style, landscape shaping and so on. It takes some training buildings which are in certain vocational and technical colleges located in Yibin, Sichuan province as the examples to support the aforementioned theory of architectural design and key points apply to training building construction.
