Suspendome is a new type hybrid spacial structure system, which bases on single-layer reticulate dome and the tensegrity system. Contrasted to the single-layer reticulate dome,suspendome'advantages are high rigidity, good stability and light weight etc.Contrasted to the double-layer reticulate dome, suspendome'advantages are novel structure type,slinky figure and saving space etc, The top structure of a majority of auditorias, gymnasiums and showplaces are longer lengthwise length and shorter breadthwise length in the real engineering. Elliptic suspendome structure possesses the above characteristic. Performance of schwedler elliptic suspendome is studied bases on the above demand in the paper.This paper introduced researching background, the composition and classification, the characteristic, researching status, the internal and international researching fruit of suspendome. It brought forward the problems to be settled urgently in the suspendome research. generalized the nonlinear finite element computing methods is summarized.This paper researches the schwedler elliptic suspendome and schwedler elliptic single-layer reticulated shell of five types of rise-span ratios in the same pan, with regard to internal force and displacement. Throught the comparation between supsendome and single-layer reticulate, the advantages of suspendome are expatiated.This paper studies eigenvalue buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis for schwedler the elliptic suspendome. And it mostly analyse stability effect of suspendome structure under this condition of the different size of initial geometrical defect. the advantages of suspendome are showed, compared with single-layer reticulated.This paper analyses dynamic peculiarity of the elliptic schwedler suspendome structure. The change of rise-span ratio,height of strut and prestressing tension of cable affects dynamic peculiarity of the elliptic suspendome.In summary, aiming at schwedler elliptic suspendome, parameters which are rise-span ratio, initial geometrical defect, height of strut and prestressing tension of cable affect static,dynamic and stability performance. Finally the perspectives for further study with respect to the problem about supendome which is unsettled were put forward.
