Viewing Break Point Design Of Small Scale Canyon Scenic Spot

The construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir draws people attention to the Yangtze River basin because people worry that the Reservoir may result in the disappearance of some beautiful canyon sceneries, thereby triggering the tourism boom of Yangtze River valleys, especially the Three Gorges scenic area. As a result, some small canyons are developed in hot competition due to their unique landscape, address, etc. Located in the periphery of Yangtze River Three Gorges Reservoir, Chongqing sits on numerous large and small canyons, therefore will become a key area for canyon tourism development. In Sept., 2008, the "Master Plan for the Tourist Area of Chongqing Dragon Gorge" compiled by Beijing Davos Summit Tourism Planning and Designing Institute passed the review of experts organized by the District Planning Committee, Nanchuan District, Chongqing City. As one of the important tourist resort areas in the one-hour economic circle of Chongqing, Dragon Gorge is exploited comprehensively whereby.And the designers seek to convey the most profound concept of landscape and show a more characteristic landscape using the most clear and simple language of design during its planning and development, in that the Gorge is of unique topography and landscape. Being a space connecting the human and the natural landscape, rest lounge is a place enabling people to go deep into the nature, and its planning and design, in a minor way, is an important factor in those of natural scenic spot, from a higher perspective, it can be considered the entire natural area planning. This paper discusses the design of rest lounges in small-scaled canyon scenic area from such aspects as uniqueness of canyon space and exquisite design concept of rest lounge, demonstrates the space effect of rest lounges in Chongqing Dragon Gorge during its development, and expounds the design principle and matters needing attention for the space.
