Earthquake, one of the common disaster, caused serious casualties and property damage in recent years. The seismic fortification performance of building depends on the seismic fortification criterion which evolved through four periods in China. The difference of the criterion in every period caused the difference of seismic fortification performance. The problems of existing building structures are, firstly the incompetence of earthquake fortification for the buildings in 1980s, secondly, seismic fortification measure and technique for high-building ,irregular buildings in recent years have not been tested in earthquakes , thirdly seismic fortification performance of now-building designed according to the seismic fortification criterion is changing gradually. Therefore, to evaluate and reinforce above the building reasonably will reduce the losing and keep the safety of people's life and property. At the same time, it put forward new task and problem for the necessary of evaluating the seismic Performance for buildings at present. This paper summarized current situation of evaluating the seismic performance in China, introduced the measures of evaluating the seismic performance taken by foreign countries, pointed out the necessary to evaluate the seismic performance for now-buildings, introduced basic theory, procedure, of analytical method of Pushover, analyzed Pushover's advantages and disadvantages, especially its application in evaluating the seismic performance, carried out the Pushover analysis based on a now-building structures by ETABS, evaluated the its seismic performance, concluded the whole analytical procedure and its result, and bring forward some new problems need to analyze and research in further.
