Earthquake causes huge damage to the life and property, therefore more andmore attention is paid to the seismic property and the seismic performance analysismethod of structure have been developing rapidly. In recent years, various forms ofirregular building structure are utilized inevitably due to the limit of the constructionsite and the requirements of the building’s function. With the impact of earthquake,not only horizontal displacement, but also torsion effect will be exerted on theirregular structure, which makes it more susceptible to damages than regular structure.Therefore, increasing attention is paid to the analysis of seismic performance of theirregular structure by engineers, and the applicability of different seismic analysismethods is also increasingly concerned. In present study, a practical irregular buildingwas taken as the research object to research the structure design and seismiccapability. Completed work contains several aspects as following:(1)The research background and contents of this thesis were simply introduced,and the definition of irregular structure and the relevant provisions of the seismicdesign in the US, Europe, New Zealand, China and other major seismic countries werealso introduced. Then, both domestic and overseas structural performance evaluationmethods and main methods of seismic analysis applied by engineering were brieflyexpounded.(2)The Shuang-feng Yangguang garden district building was chosen as anexample, to conduct structure design by PKPM software in combination with theactual situation, and the structure construction drawing was also finished.(3)According to the structure construction drawing, SAP2000V14was used tobuild up analysis model of the irregular frame structure. Based on the vibration modeswhich were obtained from modal analysis, Pushover analysis under four different loadconditions was used to gain the corresponding displacement data and the inter-storydrift. Then, this seismic performance of structure according to these data wasevaluated. Finally, IDA analysis of this structure based on several seismic records wasconducted, from which the seismic performance of this structure was furtherevaluated.The evaluation results show that this building structural design could satisfy thestandard requirements of seismic performance. In actual, this building has been completed and put into service.
