Along with the increase of the consumer capacity of distribution network, the requirement of rational allocation of reactive power is also increasingly. The reasonableness of the reactive power configuration will directly affect the security, economy and the passing rate of power quality of distribution power network operation. So it is, reactive power assignment optimization is one of the effective means which to ensure the security, economy operation of the redial distribution system. To research reactive power allocation in distribution network is the important part for improve the management of reactive power and has the all-important theoretical value and practical significance.Optimal configuration of reactive power is a multi-objective, multi-constrained mixed nonlinear programming problem. The variable is not only continuous but also discrete and the solution process is very complicated. In this paper, the structural characteristics of network itself determine the power flow algorithm-BX flow algorithm, to solve the line loss and constraint checking, and establish the reactive power optimization model which combined investment and active power loss minimization with the ant colony algorithm for the optimal compensation location. Taking into account load changes, propose cutting the ladder reactive load to determine the classification compensation capacity method. It can be found that the algorithm can invest reduce the net loss and improve voltage quality. In the paper, it produced by MATLAB procedures comply with the above theory, it is proved by the example with 9 nodes and the IEEE-34 nodes feeder distribution network. The two examples verify feasibility of the method case.
