With the continuous reduction of the land resources, exploitation of oceanresources has becoming the primary subject of national development strategy. Thus inthe ocean engineering circles a new upsurge of researching for very large floatingstructures has been set off, Very large floating structures(VLFS) can be used as airport,the sea city,Military mobile,offshore base, floating port and so on.The research object of this paper is VLFS connectors which have carried out theanalysis and design, mainly researched from the aspects of the stress, strength andservice life and so on. Mainly including the following parts:1. Summing up and studying the current situation of the development of verylarge floating structures at home and abroad. On the former research, a very largefloating structure connector is designed giving the connection mode and designscheme of each part; the connector has been primarily analyzed which the connectorstructure is simple, and can guarantee the overall performance of a very large floatingstructure.2.Using the UG software, established the3models of the various components ofvery large floating structures of the connector and the connector assembly finished,the establishment of the overall model, finite element model of connector isestablished by finite element software ANSYS, and calculate the model in differentconditions of load and stiffness. Analysis working conditions under the condition ofthe wave advance, with the wave fluctuation and whole stiffness of the connectorunder different load case3. In this paper base on the multi body of very large floating structure connector,a rigid module flexible connector (RMFC) model is used, VLFS Hydrodynamic iscalculated by using the hydrodynamic flow theory; Calculation of very large floatingstructures model contains5submersible modules in the random wave number of waveangle and various sea states in various semi submersible modular wave loading andthe hydrodynamic coefficients, and the hydrodynamic coefficient.4.In Matlab software, no considering the interaction of the semi-submersiblemodules, calculation the loads and motion responses of very large floating structuresconnector in different wave angles, and focuses on discussion of the maximum loadconnector of different semi submersible modules. 5. The connector model calculated angle intensity in state five most dangerouswaves, the calculation results show that the connected parts, connector and thefloating body is weak position connector; on the fatigue life of the worst loadsymmetry cyclic conditions in state five calculated, given the fatigue life, connectormodel shows that, in the life of a smaller connector with floating bodies, and thestrength calculation accord, it should be given enough attention in the design ofmodified connector.
