Very large floating has become a research focus of some ocean engineering conference for the purpose of exploiting ocean resource. Based on this engineering background, this paper presents research work on hydrodynamic and dynamic analysis for mooring system of very large floating structure.The hydrodynamic performance of VLFS single module has important effect on VLFS. So, the single module selection of VLFS is analyzed firstly. The plan with better hydrodynamic performance has been chosen as the single module of VLFS by comparing frequency domain motion response of these two different module structure.In the study of VLFS mooring system, time domain coupled simulation of VLFS single module’s mooring system is done which analyses the motion of single module and the dynamic response of mooring lines on the effect of catenary mooring, taut mooring and buoyant catenary mooring system in different wave directions. The safety of mooring system is also analyzed under the failure mode. The results shows the buoyant catenary mooring system has the best positioning ability in this condition. Then this mooring system is applied to the VLFS which is consist of three single modules to estimate performance of it.
