The layered structure of sedimentary rocks has two-thirds area in the nature, many metamorphic characteristics have a layered structure, therefore, in the engineering construction, the layered rock slope will be met up to a class of edge slope. In this paper, application of similar model test research in layered rock slope failure mode and its deformation mechanism, the first is based on the similarity principle, combined with the project of research object and interior laboratory conditions to determine the geometric similarity constants of model test, then process the test model. In this paper, taking yunnan phosphate group jianshan phosphate rock mining east stope slope as the research object, through the similar material proportion, determined the with river sand and gypsum as the simulation of the rock similar material, mica powder as the similar material of simulation level. Through the five groups of model test, study the slope excavation depth, strata dip Angle, the influence of rock layer thickness on the slope stability. Through the analysis of the test phenomena and data, we found rock bedded slope failures appear "mansard", the top of the bedding rock slope model showed typical subsidence, the deformation of the lower showed "ballooning" characteristic; Bedding rock slope is mainly exists tensile failure and slip-fracturing destroy two failure modes, the slope of35°and30°slope showed tensile failure, the slope of45°and50°slope performance slip-fracturing destruction; From the point of the deformation, the upper and lower deformation is large, the central deformation is small, close to the level of the excavation deformation is large, the deformation of deep is small.Through calculation and analysis, obtained the slope deformation motion law of open mining, combined with the similarity theory model results can be translated into a prototype, that provide effective guidance to the mine production practice.
