Now the high voltage switchgear is very extensive use in the power grid.Insulation damage and overheating of the switch cabinet can affect the normaloperation of electrical equipment or even cause accidents and endanger the safety ofthe power grid. Therefore, the insulation and temperature rise of high voltage switchcabinet issues have attracted people’s great attention. So we decided to usecomputer-aided design, simulate the electric field and temperature field distribution ofthe switchgear to improve the design of existing products. It will be ensure theswitchgear operation reliability. The first part of this article describes the basic theoryof electric and heat transfer as well as the relevant standards of the high voltageswitchgear. In addition, for the software required for this calculation, it introduces thefunctions and features ofANSYS finite element analysis software.The second part based on the switch cabinet products already in operation, buildequivalent3D model according to its structure, materials and other characteristics.On the basis of the actual run-time parameters, we simulate the respective electricfield of40.5kV high voltage switchgear’s busbar room, cable room and breaker roomand the temperature field of the overall switchgear. Through analysis of the resultsand the contrast with the actual circumstances, it can modify the product structure inorder to achieve the best results. It’s of great significance to the future productdesigns.
