Based on an automotive interior production enterprise, the automobile dashboard mixed model assembly line is designed and researched to enhance production efficiency. It also offers reference for similar factories.Firstly, the overall scheme for automobile dashboard collinear production is put forward to solve the problem of the automobile dashboard produced, which is numerous in variety, limited quantities and heteromorphism structure. In the scheme, the automobile dashboard is divided into main body and slave body to assemble. According to the similarity of structure and assembly process, the main body is divided into 3 series and slave body is divided into 2 series. These series products are assembled on mixed model assembly line, others small batch products which are not belong to series are assembled by a worker at a workstation. As the varieties of the products of automobile dashboard are too much to calculate the standard working hours of all products, the typical representative products are selected to calculate standard working hours which is calculated by MOD method, and the average working hours of every series product is determined by weighted sum..Secondly, the concept of compatible tasks is put forward because some tasks are needed to be done at the same workstation for using the same equipment or technique conditions. A mathematical model is built for assembly line balance based on compatible tasks, it has three optimal objectives, such as minimize workstation number, balancing workload between stations and idle and overload time, and it is solved by genetic algorithm.Thirdly, the counting method of logistics quantity of systematic layout planning (SLP) is improved, which includes not only the material quality but also the material consumption rate. And the assembly workshop layout is optimized for the factory researched based on the improved method.Finally, a detailed design scheme on the assembly line layout and the conveying system is proposed, in which the layout of assembly line and the structure of conveying system are determined. A simple and practical rack is designed for assembling main body, because its material is so much that the assembly zone is chaos when it is assembled. It is illustrated that the definite facility layout in workshop, material flow way and staffing scheme.
