Steel plate-concrete composite structure, due to its outstanding advantages, is now becoming the most widely used building material in both military and civil fortifications, thus making the research on concrete penetration always a hot topic in international military field. According to the actual situation of this research in both domestic and foreign academia, and the specific research content in this paper, we use ANSYS/LS-DYNA software to carry out the numerical simulation to study the concrete penetration problem in some specific cases. As the preparation of the research, we have first chosen FEM as our main research method, selected proper material models of the projectile-target system, and established the FE model with the advanced CAD/CAE combination modeling method. In this paper, we have tested and verified the reliability of our numerical simulation by the comparison with a previous penetration experiment, with which, we have got a powerful factual basis for subsequent analysis. First of all in the numerical calculation, we have compared the penetration resistance among the unreinforced concrete, reinforced concrete and steel plate-concrete composite structure. In the following calculations, we have analyzed the three kinds of target one by one in detail. For the unreinforced concrete target, we are aiming at the influence to the penetration performance of the projectile’s changing initial speed, and have deduced the relationships among the penetration time, the projectile’s initial, constant and remaining speed. For the reinforced concrete target, we are focusing on the influence to the target’s penetration resistance of the steel mesh’s position. For the steel plate-concrete composite target, we have changed the steel plate’s thickness and position to observe the effect of thus variation, and finally drawn some relevant conclusions.
