With the development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, the car as a convenient mode of transportation has gained popularity in the whole society. Although cars are convenient for people’s life, the anti-theft security issues have increasingly emerged, the problem of vehicle anti-theft security has become a big problem that is placed in front of people. The monitoring distance of traditional automobile anti-theft device is short, the alarming way is single, and it often makes false alarm, so a new generation of auto alarm system must be able to remedy these defects of traditional anti-theft device, and bring about monitoring vehicles in a timely manner accurately. The rapid growing of the technology of GPS and increasingly mature of GSM technology, on the basis of the modern control theory, I design and devise a system of vehicle safety monitoring based on GSM, using advanced electronic components.This paper mainly studied this system from two sides, they are hardware and software:(1) The hardware part firstly gives the system’s hardware structure, including two-phase four wire stepper motor, GPS25LP-LVC receiver, infrared sensor, GSM TC35 I, LCD12864 liquid crystal display, voice alarm, PIC18F87K22, relays and power supply, and then successively introduces the realization of these hardware selection, performance characteristics, working principle and specific circuit. PIC MCU circuit is the core of the whole system, and it is also one of the key point in this paper; the GSM communicates by the TC35 I module, the module support sending and receiving SMS which has a Chinese form, the TC35 I module communicates with MCU through the serial port one, MCU it communicate with MCU through serial port two; infrared sensor, LCD12864 liquid crystal display, voice alarm, stepper motor, relay module is connected with the MCU by I/O port, and they communicate through the I/O port; the power circuit is mainly to provide different standards of voltages to the module who has needs.(2) The software part of the design displays the main process of the system’s work, then introduces the principle of realization of each function module and the corresponding C language function. Secondly it introduces the relevant knowledge using in the design of the AT instruction set. After the completion of system initialization, MCU detects infrared flag using the query mode cycle, if it is in the occurrence position, MCU will sound an alarm and control TC35 I module to send the alarm information to the owner through the AT commands. At the same time, the GPS receiver continuously receives position information from the satellite, it will inform the MCU to collect data through the serial port and make a real-time display after the completion of data acquisition of a frame. The owner sends to the TC35 I a "location query", "lock" or "attack" command, MCU reads and stores on the PIC message by the way of the serial port interrupt and judges the format and password, then according to the instructions of the control requirements, it will control the corresponding module to perform their tasks.The design of the programming software is the MPLAB with IDE V8.6.3 version which has humanized interface, and its programming language is the C language which is easy to understand and can be programmed in module. In a word, it not only makes programming easier and faster, but also realizes that the program portability is significantly improved.The system of vehicle safety monitoring based on GSM realizes the function of GPS positioning, SMS controlling and GSM short message alarm. It also has some innovating functions, such as locking the car and attacking thieves. Once the detection device system is triggered, the system will immediately send alarm messages to the owners, at the same time the voice alarm will start. The owner may send control command to query the car position, close the car door, cut off the circuit and the oil path and take the initiative to attack burglars through the mobile phone short message. In addition, the positioning function can be used separately; the driver can see the real-time location information showing on LCD in the process of running.
