In recent years, urban and rural harmonious development has been get more and moreattention. From the17th report of our Party had explicitly proposed to establish a framework forurban and rural integration to the18th report of our Party put forward to promoting the urbanand rural integration, strengthening urban and rural harmonious development. All of these showthat urban and rural harmonious development has risen to the national policy level. Therevitalized development of the south of Jiangxi original soviet area had been put to the nationalstrategy. And it would bring some opportunities for the development of Xinfeng. At the sametime, Xinfeng has been included in the Ganzhou urban district overall planning. Also, theXinfeng government is drawing up the overall planning of Xinfeng county. It is no doubt thatall of this has brought a good opportunities for the urban and rural harmonious development.In view of this, the paper will start from the new perspective of the niche theory. Andthrough the aspect of the urban-rural income gap, urban-rural social consumption gap,urban-rural fixed asset investment gap to analyze the urban and rural overall degree of Xinfengcounty. And this would provide important basis for urban and rural harmonious developmentresearch of Xinfeng county. Second, it would analyze and research the strengths, weaknesses,opportunities and challenges of Xinfeng county based on the perspective of niche theory. And itwould provide important guiding significance for the strategy of Xinfeng urban and ruralharmonious development. Last, it would analyze the Xinfeng county from the aspect of urbansystem, industrial structure, public service facilities and so on.Through the analysis of thepopulation niche of Xinfeng, it would provide important basis for classifying urban and ruralspatial scale of Xinfeng county. Through the analysis of the industrial niche of Xinfeng, itwould determine the leading industry of Xinfeng and provide guidance for the industrialdevelopment strategy. Through the analysis of the population density niche of Xinfeng, it wouldprovide the support for classifying public service facilities, also it would reference for thepublic service facilities layout of township of Xinfeng.
