Along with the development of the western region, infrastructure construction is widening and improvement in western region, the economic development is being restricted by area transport development, highway engineering become more and more important. Gansu province in the important connection of the Silk Road, highway construction is paramount. At present, cement concrete pavement, asphalt pavement, sand and gravel road pavement are major form of road surface project. By the contrast, asphalt pavement has better performance, also driving comfort, shorter construction period and easy to maintenance, etc. Most of the new highway and city road in northwest, asphalt mixture as the main material of road surface construction. Because of climate in different region, traffic growth and economic factors, asphalt pavement appeared different levels of damage phenomena, service life of the asphalt pavement have been reduced, the application of the modified asphalt technology to a certain extent improved performance of asphalt pavement, the selection of modifying agent and the environment sustainable development have become the key points of research.Aiming at the Gansu region complex geographical conditions, changing climate characteristics, current technical conditions and economic conditions on both asphalt and modified asphalt pavement research environment adaptability. Respectively asphalt and modified asphalt energy consumption and emission to the environment, also environment impact on asphalt and modified asphalt pavement were discussed, for Gansu province choose asphalt pavement materials and sustainable development of resources and environment provide references in the future.Firstly, on the basis of a large number of domestic and foreign literature and summaries to the related theories and methods were reviewed, describes the life cycle assessment(LCA) and road pavement environment adaptability of related research status at domestic and foreign, pointed directions and contents of research. Furthermore, analysis the basic situation of Gansu province highway surface, detailed analysis the basic situation of asphalt pavement which include geography, climate, materials, pavement characteristics and common quality problems, types, characteristics and applicability. Then from the perspective of life cycle analyzed the influence factors of asphalt and asphalt pavement environment adaptability of Gansu province, based on the identified environmental adaptability evaluation index, established base on LCA(life cycle assessment) method in environmental adaptability and improve evaluation model. Finally, based on different areas of the highway project in Gansu province, through investigation and questionnaires data calculation and processing, using the method of combining qualitative and quantitative, an example is analyzed, and in different region, different road conditions the selection of modifying agent are analyzed and summarized.Through research and analysis, this thesis modified asphalt pavement for Gansu region of resources and environment adaptability research, verified its feasibility and applicability, and analysis the disadvantages, also put forward vision on the insufficient sides. Provide pavement project references and practical value for Gansu province.
