Gear transmission has many virtues such as high efficiency, exact transmission ratio, compact structure, reliable operation, and it is one of the most important transmission forms in the modern mechanical industry. Gear often repeatedly been chosen in the design of mechanical equipment, also have different size and specifications, but the traditional gear design method has been unable to meet the modern needs because it is very trivial and complex. With the development of computer technology, the gear design and computer-aided design(CAD) technology combine to become one of the research scopes of application of the gear. Universal software for secondary development to achieve the design requirements to meet the gear CAD software, CAD systems have become an essential part to practical use. This thesis regarded the involute gear mechanism as the main object of study, completed the study involute gear-specific modules of the system using the parametric design and feature-based modeling technology. This system used the Windows7 operating system as the development platform, used the VisualBasic6.0 as the programming tools, and made secondary development for three-dimensional modeling software SolidWorks. The system divided into gear design parameters and precise three-dimensional modeling, the design parameters of the parameters of each module is part of the gear design and strength check calculation; three-dimensional modeling module mainly realized the precise three-dimensional modeling of involute gear. Studies of this system improve the efficiency and accuracy of gear design and modeling. In favor to shorten design time, improve the product quality, and establish for the further study about the simulate assembly, motion simulation, finite element analysis.
