Anesthesia is an important part of clinical surgery. It can reduce the pain of patients if injecting appropriate amount of the anesthetic for the patients. In view of the complexity of the clinical surgical environment, it must be properly monitor their depth of anesthesia in order to ensure the safety of surgery patients, and improve the quality of patients regained consciousness after surgery. Currently, anesthesiologists mainly rely on personal experience and instruments of the depth of anesthesia monitoring to determine the depth of anesthesia during operation of the injured. But there will some errors to come out due to the interference of self and the external factors. Therefore, depth of anesthesia monitoring technology which combined a variety of monitoring methods has an important significance. This paper proposes a kind depth of anesthesia monitoring technology based on micro spectrometer. This method sets electronics, spectroscopy and anesthesiology in one, and breaks through the gap between disciplines. We can understand the relationship that the cerebral blood oxygen content and the depth of anesthesia of patients better by the way. The main contents:Firstly, the optical properties of human biological tissues, spectral theory and the theoretical basis of cerebral oxygenation detection ware introduced. According to literature research, the feasibility of depth of anesthesia monitoring using near infrared spectroscopy was discussed in this paper.Secondly, the system of the depth of anesthesia monitoring was studied by NIRS technology. It described the overall program flow diagram, the design of hardware and software of the system. By using Monte Carlo simulation on the model of cerebral tissue of adult to analog optical absorption properties, and a reasonable distance from the source to the receiver for probe device was determined. This design was optimal for the probe device. And according to the designed characteristics of the system and the requirements of functions of the system, a PC interface was designed. It is friendly for users and the operation is sample. Finally, the preliminary detection experiment was carried out by using the designed system which can monitor the depth of the anesthesia by using the NIRS. The changes of blood oxygen saturation in two different states of forearm occlusion and brain concentration were studied respectively. Experimental results show that:(1) the experimental results for the forearm occlusion indicate that the NIRS monitoring tissue blood oxygen saturation is more sensitive and rapid. This shows that the system is effective;(2) the data trend measured by the experiment of brain function is consistent with the trend of biomedical theoretical analysis. This shows that the feasibility of the system for monitoring the depth of the anesthesia.
