As the most widely used, convenient and clean energy in people’s production and life,power affect all aspects of national life. With the development of social and technology, people’s spiritual and material needs keep growing, power plays a very important role in society energy because of the quality of life improving and the social demand increasing, quality of power production has a significant impact on the community. But with the application of the large number of semiconductor devices and nonlinear loads generated a large number of extremely wave, resulting in power grid contaminated, power quality is destroyed, which led to people’s production and life a lot of inconvenience or even great losses.Nip in the bud, to optimize and reform, the power quality management is imminent.In the power system, the voltage waveform is an important index to measure the quality of the power quality.Harmonic is the key factor to the voltage waveform distortion.In order to ensure that the power quality can be maintained at a high level, many countries and institutions in the world set requirements and standards to limit the harmonic of power grid and maintain the power quality of power grid. Because of the urgent need of the society, how to effectively solve the factors that affect the quality of power reduction,and effectively improve the power quality of the topic of research, which has become a hot topic.So a large number of researchers have been exploring all over the world in both academic and engineering fields.Generally there are two ways to deal with the harmonic pollution: one is produce harmonic pollution devices and upgrade equipment, which achieve the purpose of reducing or even the harmonics eliminating.This direction from the source of the harmonic generation, can effectively reduce or even eliminate harmonics, but it is almost impossible to achieve in the face of a large power system.The other is extremely accurate wave compensation of power grid,purpose to suppress the abnormal wave, compensate reactive power, improve electric energy quality.In this research direction, the passive power filter and active power filter are important research results, which have been put into use and become an important means to control the harmonic pollution. In particular, the active power filter is considered as the best treatment method, and its high efficiency, stability and flexibility have laid a good foundation for the optimization of the power grid and its application prospects.In this paper, the solution to the problem is given after the harmonic problem presented,which become the topic of research--active power filter, describe its development status, system structure, basic principle, classification and development trend,and select the three-phase shunt active power filter based on the active power balance principle of in-depth study, expect to makeprogress in real-time, accuracy and cost. Finally,by MATLAB simulation and analyzes the experimental results, we demonstrate the advantages of the theory and find the lack of research,meanwhile put forward possible suggestions.
