Today, Environmental pollution and energy shortage problems have been more and more attention. Solar energy as a clean and renewable energy gradually attracted people’s attention. After a few years, solar energy will become a major source of world energy consumption. Photovoltaic power generation is an important direction of the large-scale application of solar energy, but the construction of photovoltaic power station in remote, scattered harsh outdoor environments will inevitably have some failures after years of wind and sun to make the output power of the system decreases. More importantly, if handle in time, it may damaged PV modules, and lead to security problems. Therefore, it is necessary to do real-time online effectively monitoring in the photovoltaic components of the photovoltaic power generation system.This design of remote monitoring system for PV modules integrated use of ZigBee wireless communication, RBF neural network algorithm, LabVIEW virtual instruments and realized PV modules for real-time online fault diagnosis. Hardware development platform is applied Jennie production company EK000 development board and use JN5139 as hardware core, using ZigBee protocol, topology uses a star network structure to send the PV module parameters collected by the sensor node through ZigBee wireless network transmission, the coordinator node accepts sensor nodes and transmits via RS232 serial port parameters transferred to the PC. In this thesis, the algorithm has a better learning and fault tolerance, strong nonlinear mapping ability of RBF neural network after training by MATLAB. This accurately diagnose the PV modules short, aging, shadows and other specific type of fault. Finally, PV remote monitoring interface using LabVIEW virtual instrument design to display and process the acquired parameter information of PV modules. It can communicate with ZigBee via VISA, and establish RBF fault diagnosis system which is based on LabVIEW, diagnostic process is displayed in the monitor screen, the use of Access database to store data aims at for the purpose of remote monitoring of PV modules.The results of experiments fully explain the designed PV modules, remote monitoring system can realize real-time online fault diagnosis for PV modules determine the cause of the malfunction, and can store monitoring data which is helpful for us to do quickly and accurately troubleshooting PV modules occurred. Finally, this paper summarizes the work already done, proposes deficiencies, and put forward the improved direction and goal for the next phase of work.
