With the development of urban and rural, the line of distribution system is complex, most of the trunk line with branch line even sub branch line, and fault is also often occur on the branch circuit. So the branch fault location in distribution system is the work direction and key research contents of this paper. Accurate fault location of distribution system is an important content to ensure that the user power supply reliability and provides the basis and efficiency for fault isolation and non-fault area restoration.Firstly, through exploring and summarizing of present the wired and wireless communication methods, this paper put forward a communication network which combine the EPON network and GPRS wireless communication to achieve the fault location method which combining the fault indicator and the distributed intelligent terminal. Then, analysising of the existing distribution system matrix algorithm and the communication network mode proposed in this paper, the paper proposed a method about location feeder fault for the lOkV overhead line distribution system. According to the real-time topology of tie switches is determined, then to contact switch for boundary nodes by using the improved matrix algorithm to locate the fault branch; and aiming at the shortcomings of the matrix algorithm for fault tolerant of proposed fault information of similar and differences with the fault tolerance of the correlation analysis algorithm secondary fault location of distribution system. Finally, using MATLAB software to simulation lOkV distribution system and XX city demonstration project for the conduct of the trial run, the simulation results and the test run results verify the feeder fault location method which be proposed in this paper...
