Narrative: A Study On The Method Of Architectural Space Design

"Narrative", as a common form of artistic expression, has become a systematic development pattern in the field of literature painting, film, etc. However, in the field of architectural design, "narrative"is still being explored as a design method. Based on this phenomenon, this article mainly talks about the design method of the "narrative" of architectural space, and interprets many aspects of narratology, which include the background, major concept, narrative structure and "narrative" according to the narrative theory of literature; and then clarifying the "narrative" of architectural space based on the correlated analysis between "narrative" and building, and researches of the theory and practice; and proposing the design method and strategy of architectural space under the framework of Narrative literature, and exploring how the design of architectural space can use literary narrative approach to arrange the spatial narrative content; and lastly exploring how to interpret the content of narrative according to the overall design of architectural space. As for the experimental method, this article considers the spatial setting of "Invisible Cities" as the research project, and tests its design theme, play space, spatial elements, spatial structure, narrative space, and the realm of space. Ultimately, the research results, and the above design and practice can generate the methods of architectural space with literature and logic and provide the viewers with profound experience and unforgettable memory.
