Anchor windlass is becoming increasingly important in modern ship supporting equipment. Low vibration and noise are required and it is also the goal that must be addressed in the development process of Anchor windlass. Under this circumstance, vibration lessening and noise reduction of anchor windlass are researched.Firstly, the five stages of anchor rising were analyzed. Modeling software was used to model the system. And then the multi-body dynamics simulation was conducted to get dynamic load stress of anchor wheel and the time load curve about lifting anchor.Secondly, noise and vibration detecting system were formulated, including the arrangement of detecting equipment, inspection methods and location of the measuring points.Sound level meters and noise meter were used to detect the anchor windlass and the supporting hydraulic system. In addition, vibration detector was used to measure vibration velocity, vibration acceleration and vibration displacement of six parts of the anchor windlass. In the detection process, the mechanical continuous noise is relatively low, but the noise of impaction is very large, especially the impact between the chain wheel and chains. The continuous noise of the supporting hydraulic system is large. The relationship between working conditions of anchor windlass and vibration & noise was studied. The results show that there is a positive correlation between noise and working conditions.Based on the test results of vibration and noise, the noise source of anchor windlass and supporting hydraulic system were analyzed. Structural optimization of anchor wheel was researched against the impact noise. Comparison was made according to the simulation. After structural improvements, impaction was reduced significantly. In addition, improvement measures were proposed to the gear noise, bearing noise and brake noise, which can reduce the noise.Lastly, as for the supporting hydraulic system, the noise of the hydraulic system can be reduced from pump station design, layout, selection, installation and other aspects. This research gets reliable improvements and optimization, which can make the noise of supporting hydraulic system reduced.
