The radial precision forging is a complex plastic forming process when the rifing and chamber of barrel are produced at the same time, as an important part of the barrel, The chamber forming process and machining precision is not only the key but also a difficulty. A geometric analysis method is used for chamber forming in this paper, the necessary requirements for chamber forming is discussed from both aspects of forging ratio and reduction, the matching relationship among chamber shape, hammer shape and process parameters is obtained according the necessary requirements, and a qualified chamber was forged according to the forming requirements and designed parameters, which indicated that the analysis of geometric method for forging conditions and process parameters derived in this paper is feasible.According to the small deformation theory and principle of constant volume, the plastic strain increment of sinking zone and forging zone for radial precision forging of barrel which derived in detail by analytical method, and the cumulative strain of the key points of the chamber is solved by MATLAB software, in addition, numerical simulation of precision forging process is carried on with the finite element analysis software Abaqus for the rifing and chamber of barrel are produced at the same time, extract and analyze of the chamber cumulative plastic strain by further, the trend of the curves are very cinsistent. It can be indicated that part of the conditions which are assumed in the analytical method is feasible, furthermore.The mechanical properties of horizontal and vertical and the material hardness changes and the microstructure changes are measured by using the laboratory equipment for a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical properties of stainless steel. We can know that by comparing the mechanical properties of blank barrel material and forged barrel material:The strength and hardness properties are increased and the plastic properties is reduced of the forged barrel material.in addition, it’s better using 10% oxalic acid electrolytic corrosion than 4% of HNO3 chemical corrosion in metallographic experiment, the quenched structure of 20Cr13 steel is quenched martensite and small amount of residual carbides within the grains of granular and intergranular carbide network by phase diagram at 500 times magnification.In order to achieve the design of process parameters and the fast and efficient analysis in the precision forging process of barrel, put geometrical method and analytic method combined with KBE technology, an aided design and analysis software platform has been developed about process parameters of barrel in the precision forging, and describes the operation of the software in detail according to the precision forging instance, improves the efficiency and quality of process parameters of barrel in the precision forging greatly.
