Signalized intersection constitutes is one of the basic elements in the entire city road network, as well as urban transport nodes in the system.The operation of each intersection directly determine the overall efficiency of urban road traffic. At present, the method of improving the capacity of intersection is mainly from two aspects:improving the channelization design of intersection and signal timing scheme.In the aspect of the channelization design of intersection, the way to improving the traffic efficiency of the intersection is increasing the number of lanes in the stretch segment. Due to the limitation of urban road area, the characteristics of the randomness and variability of traffic flow, the overflow has become a common phenomenon in the traffic. The basis of the design of the intersection channel and the design of the signal timing scheme is how to judge the queue overflow at the intersection of the intersection. In this paper, the research object is to broaden the cross section of the cross section of the plane cross, firstly, to analyze the influence of the setting up of the segment on the traffic flow;Secondly, study the correlation model of queue length, and analysis the advantages and disadvantages of each model; The third aspect is the analysis of the intersection traffic flow data, using the existing model to predict the traffic flow of intersection traffic flow, based on the investigation of a plurality of intersection with stretch segment in Kunming, observation of the peak period of the stretch segment in the intersection, to measure the current actual intersection, and to extract the data of the length of the segment, the number of lanes, lane width ect. Based on the traffic flow data collected by the actual data, the rule of the change of the index is studied about the queue overflow and overflow in the intersection with stretch segment by the method of mathematical statistics. Determine the size of the queue overflow discriminant index, draw the conclusion that the intersection with stretch segment will overflow in the case of the intersection. At last, provide a theoretical basis for the channelization design of intersection and signal timing scheme in the future.
