The wet clutch is a key mechanical transmission component. The characteristics of oil pressure buffer control have important influence on the comprehensive performance of the transmission system. In this paper, the wet clutch was studied to improve the characteristics of joint oil pressure buffer control. A mathematical model for the process of the wet clutch engagement was established. A wet clutch test bed was set up and a wet clutch buffer control system was designed. By means of simulation and experiment, the characteristics of the joint oil pressure, the control method and the quality of the wet clutch engagement were studied.Firstly, the mathematical model of the kinematic equation of the piston, the flow balance equation, the kinematic equation of the valve core was carried out. The simulation results showed that the oil pressure increased in the trend of fast-slow-fast.Secondly, based on the hydraulic system model and the characteristics of the oil pressure, the buffer control signal was designed. The influence law of wet clutch control signal on the joint oil pressure was obtained. The simulation results were compared the traditional PID control with fuzzy PID control.Thirdly, based on the principle of electro hydraulic proportional control, the design of the buffer control system was carried out. The clutch engagement test was implemented by the two control signal output method, and the response characteristics and stability of the test bed were verified by comparing the non-buffer control system.Finally, the evaluation index of the joint quality of wet clutch test bed was put forward and verified by the subjective evaluation. The influence law of speed difference, brake pressure, flow and other factors on the engagement quality were analyzed. Using the evaluation index of engagement quality and considering the plot ratio,the optimization of the clutch control signal was conducted.
