Based on a type 16V240ZJB turbocharged diesel engine, physics and mathematical models, mainly including cylinder and exhaust pipe models, are established. The capacity method is adopted to calculate the pressure on exhaust pipe, at the mean time, exhaust gas turbocharger is also calculated.In the computer program, the regional parameters are given, then the equation groups are solved with Runge-Kutta method , the calculation results in rated condition are obtained. This paper discusses the influence of several parameters in heat release rate formula on the working process and proceeds with numerical simulation to the working process in part load condition according to the locomotive character.The comparison between the calculated and the measured parameters shows that the agreement is quite satisfactory. The physics and mathematical methods may be considered as correct, and can be used to do further research in this type of engine and the similar ones.
