The population concentration enlarges the possibility to meet by chance and provides convenient infrastructure, which is the charm of city. During the past hundred years, however, the city has gradually lost control because of the excessive development and the spatial structure appears out of order. On the other hand, urban residents' requirements on environmental quality get higher and higher owing to the social and economic development and the increase of the material and spiritual civilization level. To resolve this contradiction, this paper puts forward to a proposition that is the urban spatial structure guided by the urban green space system on the basis of a review to the green space developing process and the thinking of the relationship between man and nature, in order to establish a new urban order.This paper firstly makes a parse to the urban spatial structure and urban green space system both in subject and conception, explores the classification to green system and advances that the research thinking should be guided by systemic philosophy. Then it makes a review to internal and external theories and practices and prospects the future trend. Based on that, the paper theme is exalted to the relationship between man and nature. Following viewpoints as "Topophilia", Sustainable Development and Urban Ecology-Ecopolis are interpreted after analyzing the relationship among nature, man and human settlements.In the key part, this paper holds that urban green system finishes changing from edge to center status in dynamical mechanism of urban spatial structure after systemic research to the compositive use of urban green space system. Then, the relationship between urban spatial structure and urban green space system is parsed from different angle such as geography, ecology, urban planning and economy. Putting it in the knowledge economy era background, the paper thinks the virtual information space could not replace the urban green space, and the position of later will be strengthened. Finally, the paper makes a preliminary exploration to newurban green space system planning and design from theory to practice in order to guide urban spatial structure.In the arrangement of constructing the urban green space system planning and design, the paper points out that the construction, readjustment and optimization of modern urban green system should adopt circular model in planning programs, accord to ecological theory macroscopically, and holds on the idea of "design with nature and green in city". It puts emphasis on planning urban green space and surveying green belts' function from the angle of regional space; paying attention to reserving natural remains, regularly contributing green patch in city by means of constructing the whole urban green space system connected with green corridor. At the same time, it suggests apply the landscape ecology theory to the urban green space system planning and design.In the last part, this paper applies above planning theories and methods to practical urban green space system planning in Wuhan. After analyzing the urban spatial structure, urban natural matrix and current green space condition, it puts forward to that urban green space system planning in Wuhan should strongly control main city zone's external sprawl by using the green belt based on the naturally "tilted cross" morphology, and construct a regularly contributed urban green space network that has perfect system and has infiltrative and leading function to urban spatial structure in Wuhan by using the green corridor connected with green patch.
