With the rapid development of modern industry, mechanical seals are much more concerned by people and have been one of important subjects today. As the environment of mechanical seal has changed greatly, it then makes the optioning conditions of mechanical seals much more severe and diversified. To high duty mechanical seals used in practical field, The mechanical seals with deep spiral grooves are fairly effective methods. But in the published literature and relative articles, there is not rather a reasonable theoretical analysis and no corresponding experiment has been made to prove the theory and make it more perfect.The mechanical seals with deep grooves naturally belong to the field of elastothermohydrodynamic mechanical seals. Its mechanism is very complex. According to the theoretical analysis methods of elastothermohydrodynamic mechanical seals, this article include theoretical numerical computation which use the relative construct parameters of experiment, and the calculation is carefully compared with the datum from experiment. Fortunately the results confirm thar the theoretical analysis presented in the published literature is feasible.This article fully reports the research work, which I've done in the course of two years hard work as a graduate with the instruction of Professor Li Bao-yan. The main parts rely on the experiment and theoretical calculations. We can get the friction torques of mechanical sealing face and get serials of curves , from which important conclusions are formed. Eventually, it does discuss the future of mechanical face seals with the deep spiral grooves.
