When mankind extend their activity into the space, people pay more attention to the space environment than any other time before. To know more phenomena of the space environment and their mechanism, our country develops the Double Star Project (DSP). DSP cooperated with ESA's Cluster II becomes one of the most advanced Space Exploration plans in today's world. As a part of DSP, Low Energy Ion Detector (LEID) will do its contribution to the research of the earth's magnetosphere and aurora zone.In this thesis I discuss the design of LEID: introducing its character and its principle; giving the structure of the symmetric quadrispherical electrostatic analyzer with a collimator and the analyzer's simulation method; giving the physical parameter of the analyzer and the division of the deflection voltage; giving the requirement of MCP and the counting ability of LEID; giving the design of the electronics. Except that, the thesis discusses exploration methods for low energy particle in recent years.During the developing process of LEID, the Ground Inspection Device (GID) is an important part to inspect the hardware and software of the detector and to ensure the reliability of the detector, hi this thesis I describe the character of GID's design and its work principle; discussing each part of its hardware and software design, especially introducing the application of CPLD in part of hardware design and implement; at last giving the whole process of GID and the result of its inspection.
