In this paper, theory bases, basic hypothesizes and research advances on prediction models of rock fragmentation distribution in blasting are introduced systematically and the characters of each model are analyzed, the cracking mechanism of blasting rock is discussed and the main parameters affecting distribution of rock fragmentation in blasting are analyzed, which are applied in open pit blasting optional design around home and abroad. According to the cost model of Doctor H.R Chung in Canada,a blasting optional model is made successfully on the base of collecting all kind of blasting and economics data.Using this model in the THREE GORGES Right hydro station blasting project,we have got blasting optional parameters under making the minimum of total blasting cost by the mean of the programming Constrained Variable Metric(CVM01)aided by the software of the Fortran PowerStation4.0.Position and reasons of producing block are found through investigating widely geology circumstance. Then four blasting plans are designed, which are continunation charging plan, interval charging plan, method of blasting previous softening plan (MBS I ) and multiple plan (MBS II).Experimental results for the THREE GORGES Right hydro station blasting, project are analyzed.A series of data are evaluated by means of Analytic Hierarchy Process so that the optimal plan is obtained, which includes optional parameters, AIC technology. ,trapezoid millisecond blasting technology and wide hole space technology .In this paper, fiagmentation distribution is greatly improved,at the same time ,block rate and total blasting cost are obviously decreased by the optimal plan.It is verified that the optimal model is beneficial to practice.
