An on-line parameter identification for large synchronous generators is presented. A step change of excitation is imposed to a generator when the machine is in normal operation. The transient voltages,currents and the power angle are recorded. Based on the large disturbance equation and using the measured power angle as an observation argument in an identification algorithm,the electrical parameters and mechanical parameters are obtained.In this thesis,micro-computer testing systems for synchronous generator is analyzed. WithMCS-196 series single chip micro-controller of high price performance ratio,a high precision,intelligent instrument for automated testing has been developed. The phase-locked loop technology is used in this equipment to follow up and get the frequency of electric quantity automatically. After the procedure of AC sampling,the amplitude and effective value of fundamental harmonic will be worked out by using Fourier algorithm,at the same time,it can work out the 3-phases active power,3-phases reactive power and power factor. Academic analysis and testing results indicate that each result out of fixed point number operation can reach the precision demand. There is a RS -232 serial communication interface in this instrument,so it can exchange messages easily with PC. In course of the hardware designing and software programming,much redundance technology is used to make the equipment running much more stably and reliably.Some latest measuring technology and micro-controller technology have been adopted in this instrument. It combines hardware with software excellently,so it has infinite using value and marketable fore ground.
